2nd Annual NRH Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Healthcare Professionals Information Day

The NRH Spinal Cord System of Care (SCSC) Programme is presenting a series of talks, practical workshops, and a tour of the SCSC units, aimed at giving an overview of spinal cord injury rehabilitation for healthcare professionals working with patients with SCI, in hospital and community settings. Learning Objectives
- To understand the rehabilitation journey for the patient with spinal cord injury (SCI)
- To understand SCI epidemiology and prognosis
- To engage in practical workshops and demonstrations of seating, posturing and positioning of SCI patients, electronic assistive technology and functional skills including transfers, bed mobility and manual wheelchair skills
- To understand SCI interdisciplinary team management including skincare management, pressure relief, sexual functioning and bowel and bladder care
- To gain a basic understanding of the psychological wellbeing and social impact of SCI
- To get an insight into the SCI patient experience and participation with community support services
