Neurogenic Bowel Course – Education for Family and Friends
Date: Saturday 7th December 2024
Venue: National Rehabilitation Hospital, Rochestown Avenue, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, A96 RPN4
Course Aims:
To provide attendees with the knowledge required for the practical care of the neurogenic
bowel for individuals living with a spinal cord injury.
Course Objectives:
This programme provides information on the theoretical and practical skills needed to support a neurogenic bowel care programme. This will include a practical workshop on the clinical aspects of performing digital rectal examination (DRE), insertion of a suppository, digital rectal stimulation (DRS), and digital removal of faeces (DRF). The course will also include a session on complications, colostomy and trans-anal irrigation (TAI) in relation to neurogenic bowel dysfunction.
The workshop is delivered with interactive learning sessions allowing participants to be involved in the learning process to progress their understanding.

Course Information
Registration: 9.30am – including tea and coffee on arrival
Details: Courses run from 10.00am – 2.00pm. Course starts at 10.00am sharp (late attendees cannot be facilitated).

Cost: €50 per attendee, including morning tea, coffee and light lunch
Delegates: Suitable for all family, friends and carers of an individual living with spinal cord injury.
